How to: Read Athlete's Events
Before the meet (typically the night before), we will publish an Athlete Sign-in Sheet and a Meet Heat Sheet to all parents for you to see your swimmer's events. This is vital information for Swimmer Prep. We recommend you become familiar with these documents before the meet to ensure a smoother process prior to the meet start.
Athlete Sign-in Sheet: In addition to being sent out via email before the meet, the Athlete Sign-in Sheet will also be printed and available for your review at the check-in table when you arrive for the meet. Please do not take the hard copies for yourself. Other families will need this. Below is an example of its format:
Here is how to read the sheet:
For example, John is swimming in event #8 (50 free), in heat 2, and in lane 3. Please refer to the Swimmer Prep page on how to mark your swimmer's arm with this information.
Meet Heat Sheet: The Meet Heat Sheet is used by volunteers throughout the meet to keep track of progress and to see who should be swimming in which event, heat, and lane. This is broken down by event, not athlete. It is much easier to find your swimmer's events on the Athlete Check-in Sheet mentioned above.
Example:
Please note, at the time of your swimmer's event, things can change (events can be combined, added, or cancelled, lanes can be changed, etc.). This is why it's important for your child to remain close to the designated swimmer's area or "zoo" for the Clerks of Course and Shepherds to find your swimmer and get them to the starting block in a timely manner.
