NSD is a recreational swim team that swims from September through March. Our goal is to continue a summer swim team experience for the fall and winter months. We are THE place for those that have recently learned to swim and for those that are interested in competitive swimming but hesitant to make a 12 month commitment to another local, highly competitive, USA teams. Our swimmers range in ages from 5 to 18 and are of all skill levels and abilities.
Our home pools are the Northside Pool, Huntersville Pool, and Southside Aquatic Center (SSAC) in Norfolk, VA; however, we do occasionally utilize other pools throughout the season.
We have a fully certified coach on staff along with various assistant coaches who typically have worked with us in the past.
The City of Norfolk sponsors NSD in the form of pool time for practice and meets.
NSD is a nonprofit organization run by a parent-led board. Board members typically serve a two-year term. Positions are filled by parents and it is a great way to support the team. All parents are asked to volunteer to help at meets to set-up, time events, officiate as stroke and turn judges, shepherd swimmers to the events, run concessions, etc.
NSD maintains an accident insurance policy that covers all registered swimmers during practice, meets, and other NSD-sponsored functions.
