Hello Families!

Are you ready for an amazing season?! We definitely are and we're so excited to see the enthusiasm and support for our organization. We think this will be our best season yet!

Here's a few important notes about the first week of practice and other reminders:

• If you haven't already, take 30 seconds to complete this survey to let us know how you heard about the team.
• Check our Practice Location/Days page for important info on where and when we practice.
  • If you don't have a Pool Access Card with Norfolk Pools, please fill our the forms attached on the page linked above to make the process of you getting access faster ($20/year per swimmer for residents).
  • First practice is 6pm 9/5/23 at Southside Aquatic Center (1750 Campostella Road).
    • We practice at a different pool every day so please check the link above for where and when!
  • Tryouts week (Tue, 9/5 - Fri, 9/8) has a different schedule than the rest of the season! We have a lot of new beginner swimmers every season so please allow them exclusive access with the coaches from 6-6:30pm the first week.
    • New beginners tryouts: 6-6:30pm (coaches to evaluate and/or work with swimmers to meet the minimum requirement to be on the team)
    • All other swimmers (if you can swim the length of the pool unassisted, congrats! You're on the team!)
      
      • Returning beginners: 6:30-7pm (after first week, all beginners will be from 6-6:30pm)
      • Intermediate (new & returning): 6:30-7:10pm
      • Advanced (new & returning): 7-8pm
        • Starting October: 6:30-8pm
• Download the SwimTopia app, log in, and enable notifications! This is how we will communicate time sensitive alerts (practice is cancelled or moved, for example). Please also enable "do not disturb" or "focus" notification overrides on your phone for the SwimTopia app so alerts come through even when your phone is in DND or Focus mode (if you don't know how, ask your kids for help).
• Begin getting gear for your swimmer(s)!
  • Competitive swim suits must be purchased through our swimoutlet.com team store (link above). Our team colors are navy blue and white and our team store limits you to those colors.
  • If needed, I will have a sizing kit available at practices the first few weeks.
  • Parents who have fins or good condition practice swimsuits that don't fit your swimmer anymore, please bring them the first week and donate to other families who may need help.
• Read our Swimmer Code of Conduct page and ensure you discuss these items with your swimmer(s). We strive to make NSD a safe and productive environment for everyone. Code of conduct violations is grounds for dismissal from the team.
• Meet our Board of Directors, the volunteer parents who contribute (a lot of) hours to make this team the best it can be!
• Meet our amazing Coaches!
• Parents who registered to pay by check, you must provide by 9/15/23! You can hand the check to any board member and we will approve your pending registration. Failure to complete timely payment will forfeit your registration and allow another family to register from the wait list!
