Good morning! We hope everyone had a great time at our first meet of the season! It was amazing seeing our kids compete again since March 2023. A LOT of improvement for our returning swimmers and now we have baseline times for new swimmers and swimmers in their new age groups! We will use these baseline times to gauge improvement throughout the season. 

Updates:

• Thank you so much to all the parents who volunteered yesterday and those who flexed in when we needed ad-hoc help! You are all amazing! We appreciate you helping make this another smooth meet. 

• 

• Final meet results will be published via separate email soon. Be on the lookout. Just at a high level: 
  • DQs were reduced by 24% relative to our time trials a few weeks earlier. This is great! We still have a lot of work to do though so, if you see your swimmer had a DQ (or two ... or three), it's okay! It's a learning opportunity. "Don't let perfection stand in the way of progress." As long as they have a continuously improving mindset, they will get there!
  • We have some truly fast swimmers on the team! Some of them should consider joining USA Swimming if they haven't already. You're speedy like cats, if cat's liked water...

• If you have photos/videos from the meet you'd be willing to share with the team that we may use for social media or other promotions, please email them to [email protected]. Please only send us your best photos; we don't have bandwidth to sift through thousands of photos. We will share our photos with every one soon, from a secure link. 
• We will be labeling and packaging meet ribbons during practice on Monday! If you can help, please join us at Northside in the classroom!

Reminders:

• ODU Thanksgiving Basket Drive donations are due Thursday, 11/9 at practice! Our team is about giving back to the youth in our community, including those struggling most. Let's show the ODU volunteers what NSD is about and get some baskets going! IMPORTANT: If you prefer or are simply too busy to shop for this, we have calculated the cost for a basket ($35) and you can go to our Team Store and donate that amount and we will buy the supplies for you to pack the baskets during practice on Thursday!
