Another busy week for NSD families with three meets to hop between (ODAC, Intra-Squad, and CGBD)! We still have swimmers competing in the CGBD Christmas Champs in Hampton Sunday and we wish them good luck! 

Updates

• Thank you to all the volunteers and coaches throughout this busy week! We appreciate all you do to make the team a success and ensure our events run smooth! We also thank the staff from Norfolk Parks & Rec, who partner with the team to ensure a well-operated facility for our large group! 

• 

• Huntersville pool remains closed until further notice. Practices will continue at Northside (Mon/Thu) and Southside (Tue/Wed/Fri). We will let you know if/when the schedule changes.

Reminders

• Winter Break is from 12/25/2023 - 1/1/2024 - that means no practice that week and following Monday. We will resume practices on Tuesday, 1/2/2024. Enjoy the Holidays!

• 

• We still have some "I swim faster than my mom and dad" youth t-shirts, "Proud mom" adult t-shirts, and "Eat my bubbles" hoodies available on the team store! They make great holiday gifts! 
• Intra-squad meet ribbons are awarded for overall event places one through six. 

12/9 Intra-Squad Meet Results and Recap

Reminder: This is a youth sport and we all must remain committed to be positive and to learn based on the outcomes. We remind you to respect the process and authority of our trained officials who judge legal technique during each event. Disqualifications are a lesson, not a failure. Your swimmer will have more chances at the same events throughout the season. Coaches will continue working with your swimmer throughout the season to reach legal standard for all strokes.

Another great intra-squad meet for our swimmers! We know a lot of swimmers ended up sick and couldn't compete; we're sorry you missed but hope you can compete again soon!

When I saw the stack of DQ slips, my holiday spirit kicked in and we chose to "ignore" the DQs for the new events we added for the younger athletes.

This means the following events are "unofficial" results as DQ's weren't recorded in the system:

• Events 1 - 4 (50yd Butterfly ages 9 - 12)
• Events 21 - 24 (25yd Breaststroke ages 5 - 8)
• Events 31 - 35 (100 IM ages 9 - 12)

You'll still get ribbons and coaches will still get the the DQ slips to work with swimmers throughout the season to improve on legal technique! This "exception" will not carryover into the next intra-squad meets! TWO. HAND. TOUCH. 

DQ's still apply for the older athletes and their respective events (repeats from the November Intra-squad meet).

We know. Please understand this is an intra-squad meet with no official competitor other than teammates. The younger swimmers first competing in butterfly, breaststroke, and IM wouldn't have had any seed times to compare against later in the season as most were DQ'd during the meet. It's better to have some time as a baseline, work on technique the rest of the season (coaches will still have their DQ reasons), and see where they end up at the end of the season.
