Hello NSD Families! We made it through the halfway mark of the season and everyone has earned a much deserved break! 

I asked ChatGPT to write a poem about it: 

We are the Norfolk Silver Dolphins, a youth swim team

We train hard every day, we chase our dream

We swim in different strokes, we race in different meets

We cheer for each other, we celebrate our feats

We are halfway through the season, we have made some progress

We have improved our times, we have shown our prowess

We have faced some challenges, we have overcome some fears

We have learned some lessons, we have grown in our years

We are not done yet, we have more goals to achieve

We have more opponents, we have more tricks up our sleeve

We are ready for the second half, we are hungry for the win

We are the Norfolk Silver Dolphins, we swim with pride and grin

President's Note 

It's been amazing seeing our swim team progress the past three months! Not just in performance, but also seeing so much kindness and budding friendships between athletes. It's heartwarming to see fellow athletes crowd around a lane and cheer their teammate on during a meet. It's touching to witness families go out of their way to share gifts and kind messages of gratitude to our coaches and our partners at Norfolk Parks & Rec pools during the holidays. 

We on the board are uplifted by observing these acts as well as the many kind words and gratitude you've shared with the Board of Directors about our organization. We're grateful so many of you have benefited from our efforts to grow a larger community-centered youth competitive swim club. Simply observing all this love and gratitude imparted by you back into the community is our payment for the effort we put into the organization and we've received an abundance this season. Thank you.

Updates

• Norfolk Parks & Rec have informed NSD that Huntersville will likely reopen sometime in January. We will notify and alert you when the schedule changes.
• Coach Aaron has had to step away from coaching due to school obligations. We wish him well as he focuses on his academic endeavors! 

Reminders

• No practices the remainder of 2023 (Winter Break). We will resume practices on Tuesday, 1/2/2024 (Southside). 
• USA Swimmers - the January 6-7 ODAC meet declaration is open on SwimTopia. You must declare by Tuesday 12/26 in order to be in the meet! Please pre-pay for your events once you declare (go to Team Store to pay).
