Week 1 recap, reminders, & updates
Hello NSD Swimmers and Families!
What a wonderful tryouts week and first week of practice we have had! Thank you all for your dedication and commitment to the team so far and patience while we adjust to the new swimmers, coaches, and get our feet under us for the upcoming season. We are looking forward to a wonderful swim season!
Reminders:
- Regular practice schedule resumes THIS WEEK. That means starting tomorrow, Monday, September 9th please arrive for your regular scheduled practice time. We have overlapped the groups a bit this season to attempt to space out the children optimizing their time in the water. Hopefully this is helpful for our coaches and swimmers alike. I will email out this list tomorrow morning. Apologies for the delay!
- Beginner/Intermediate GREEN group: 6-6:30
- Intermediate RED group: 6:30-7:10
- Intermediate/Advanced BLUE group: 7-8pm
- If you have yet to make to practice with your child, no problem at all. Just let the coaches know their name and they can evaluate this week and fit them in.
- Families who registered to pay by check: Payment is due by this Friday, 9/13/24. You can hand your check to any board member at practice. Jon will be around most of the week again, and Amber as well. Look for us in blue NSD tees.
IMPORTANT:
Have you received the alerts from SwimTopia as a phone notification this week? Not the emails, but the alerts….
If you didn’t get a phone alert, please download the swimtopia app to your phone and enable notifications (login with the email you used to register your athlete). We will send important alerts through SwimTopia such as practice updates in case of pool closure, etc. These come through best on the app and notification on your phone. If you choose not to install the app, the system will send you an email instead.
Coaches Notes:
- Goggles are very helpful for most swimmers. We encourage you to purchase and bring swim goggles to every practice.
- Please be sure to arrive early enough for your kiddo to be ready at the start of practice for their time slot.
- We have adjusted some of our swimmers into combined groups simply to space out the children. Our intermediate group is always the largest group of swimmers, and this will allow everyone to have a little more room to swim. We have guidelines for how many swimmers can be in the water at one time, so this will help us adhere to that! Please reach out and ask if you have any question/concern on your child’s grouping.
Our first swim meet is rapidly approaching in just a couple of short weeks, so the coaches are eager to get started with the children. If this is your swimmers first meet, don’t worry. It’s going to be fun! This meet will give us times to work with for the kids to improve throughout the season. We will set up a parents meeting in advance for our new swimmers to talk through the logistics of a swim meet.
Lastly, if you have any questions, please reach out to us or find us at practice some night this week!
