Week 2 Updates & Information

We had such a wonderful week with your swimmers this past week!  They’re already showing enthusiasm, sportsmanship, drive, and excitement for their sport and team.  NSD is going to have a fabulous season!

Each week we send out a quick email with any reminders, updates, and things to do for upcoming meets, etc.  So keep an eye out (usually on Sundays) for this weekly message from the board.  We are also always available via email.  The website is currently being updated as we add board members, but a few of us are already in there with our info current.

Reminders

  • Remember, every swimmer needs to be registered with our team now that practice is in full swing, if you haven’t gotten to that yet, please follow the registration link on our website.
  • Norfolk Parks & Rec requires every swimmer to have a current membership so if you’re new please take care of that at any of the city pools during practice.  And returning members, you can ask at the pool or I will remind you likely next week anyone whose membership has lapsed or is about to lapse.
  • All swimmers should come to practice with a cap, goggles and a one piece, snug fitting swimsuit or jammers (no swim trunks).  Practice suits can be any brand and are available at Dicks, aqua wear, amazon, swim outlet or a variety of other sites/locations.  If you need any help with sizing for competition suits, the sizing kit is available during practice, but I need you to have your kiddo DRY so have them do this before they get in the water for practice and they can slide it right on over their practice suit.  We also have a growing pile of hand me down practice suits.  If you see one that fits your swimmer, please help yourself.
Updates
A most sincere and grateful THANK YOU to each and every parent who has offered their hand on the board this season.  Your support and dedication is appreciated greatly!
Things to do:
  • When we have upcoming meets, this is where the information will be.  So for now, just save the date for our first meet the last Saturday in September,  9/27 from 8:30am - 12:00 ish.  This first meet determines the swimmers times for them to work towards this season.  So even if your swimmer is brand new, please consider bringing them even if they only swim 1 event.  The kids LOVE to see the drop in times over the course of the season as they increase skill, endurance, and speed.
  • We have a parent meeting and meet information session in the works for 9/16 and 9/19.  More to come on that next week, but put in your calendar now :)
That’s it for this week!  Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed all that beautiful sunshine and warm temps!  See you at the pool! (technically I won’t see you at the pool, I am out of town, but say hi to the other board members floating around!)
